Chris Ackerley for Pima County Treasurer

Chris Ackerley serves as the Pima County Treasurer having been appointed to the office by the Pima County Board of Supervisors in April of 2024.

Before being named Pima County Treasurer, Chris served as the Chief Deputy Treasurer for Pima County having been recruited to join the office by his predecessor Beth Ford. Chris had a 22-year career as a high school physics and math teacher. A long-time advocate for public policy in southern Arizona, Chris was elected to the Arizona House of Representatives and served in the 52nd legislature representing part of Pima and Santa Cruz County.

EXPERIENCE

In addition to collecting property taxes, the Pima County Treasurer’s Office acts as the “bank” for most of the political jurisdictions in Pima County. Understanding the complex relationships, financial structures, and statutory requirements of all these different entities is a critical part of the successful administration of the office. With his service as current Pima County Treasurer, his involvement in the legislature, and over two decades of public policy advocacy, Chris has the experience needed to maintain the continuity of operations while looking for ways to improve the efficiency and service of the office.

PERSPECTIVE

As a fiscal conservative, Chris will never forget it is the taxpayer’s money and the Treasurer’s job to be the faithful steward of those funds. He firmly believes decisions concerning the conduct of the office and the resolution of issues should be made to the benefit of the taxpayer.
